Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep

Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep

Bighorn sheep are sure-footed animals and have rough pads on the bottom of their two-toed, spread-out hooves. These pads allow them added traction as they move across the rocky cliffs of their native habitat.

Education

The education department offers fun educational experiences for a wide range of visitors. Whether you are a family, teacher, general visitor or representative of a group, we offer programs to meet your needs and interests.

Registration

Reservations are required for all programs. There is limited space in each program so please register early.  A minimum number of registrants is required to run a program.

Winter Weather Policy

All education programs, including Edventure Academy, camps, and overnights, will run as scheduled unless the zoo has been closed by order of Onondaga County administration. Sorry, but no refunds or rain checks will be given for 'no-shows' for any reason.

Special Group Programs

Scout groups, Rotary, home school... if you belong to, or are active in any of these or other groups and would like to arrange a custom educational program on a specific topic, call the zoo's education department. We will work with your group to design a special program to meet your needs.

For on-site programs during a field trip to the zoo, call Liz at 435-8511 x205.

For off-site Zoo to You programs, call Alicia at 435-8511 x124.

Fees, times and availability depend on the program content, duration and materials needed. When considering such a program, please plan at least 6 weeks in advance.
