Radiated Tortoise
The radiated tortoise’s shell has a pattern of yellow lines “radiating” from the center of the dark plate of the shell, hence the name. The shell also contains blood vessels and nerves, so a tortoise can actually feel when it is touched.
Congratulations to everyone who participated; 2010 was, by far, the most successful contest to date. With approximately 825 photos entered into the contest, the judges certainly had their work cut out for them. The winners are below.
