Due to heat sensing pits located along the upper jaw, ball pythons can easily find prey in complete darkness. The pits open at different angles which allows the snake to tell what direction warmth is coming from.

Catering at the Zoo

12th Annual Photo Contest:
January 2-31, 2017

Each January, the zoo invites photographers of all abilities, ages 5 and up, to take part in a photo contest. Winning photos appear in the spring issue of our member publication MyZoo Magazine, on the zoo's website and social media, and are displayed to the public for one year in the zoo's gift shop windows.
