General Information:
- The contest begins on January 12, 2008 and ends on February 3, 2008. Entries are due by 4:00 p.m. on February 4. Late entries will not be accepted.The contest is open to amateur photographers, ages 5 and up. Rosamond Gifford Zoo staff, Friends of the Zoo staff, sponsor employees, volunteers and board members are not eligible, nor are their immediate family members. To be eligible, photos must be taken at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo between January 12, 2008 and February 3, 2008.Each person is limited to 2 entries. A completed entry form, including photo title and a description must be submitted with each entry. Only one submission per person will be eligible to win, regardless of judging results. For participants without a computer, the complete rules and entry forms will be available at the zoo’s main ticket booth.
- Complimentary zoo admission for contest participants who show their camera and the coupon available on this website at the zoo admission booth. Click here for coupon. The contestant must fill out the coupon in its entirety before giving it to the ticket booth attendant. This coupon allows one entrant, with a limit of one entrant per household, to enter the zoo free of charge.

- The Rosamond Gifford Zoo reserves the right to terminate, cancel or suspend the contest without notice.
- Submission of an entry automatically constitutes the contestant’s acceptance of all the conditions set forth in the rules.
Photo Specifications:
- Entries must be in a digital format to be eligible. Regular photos must be scanned and submitted by email or on a CD.Electronic files should be labeled with the type of animal, followed by the entrant’s name. (Example: Lion_JaneSmith). Label CDs or include message in email with the type of animal, entrant’s name and title of the photos on the CD. (Example: Lion, Jane Smith, Sleeping in the Winter Sun).Photos must be submitted in jpeg or tiff format (file size 4 megabytes or larger). Please provide the largest file size possible to allow for quality printing of photos.Photos may be submitted in natural color or black and white forms only. Minor digital enhancements, such as cropping, contrast, etc. are permitted. Images that have been significantly modified may be entered in the “digitally enhanced” category only.No watermarks, signatures or copyright notices may be added to the image.If the photo contains a readily identifiable person as a subject, the photographer must submit the person’s name, address and phone number. If the subject is a minor, the photographer must also submit the parent or guardian’s information. This information must be submitted with the photo and entry form.Contest officials reserve the right to refuse any photo that does not meet the photo specifications.
- The Rosamond Gifford Zoo is not responsible for lost or damaged CDs, as well as those that are not received by the contest deadline.
Photo Management:
- All submissions become the property of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo and will not be acknowledged or returned.By entering the contest, you grant to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, the non-exclusive, world-wide, perpetual right and license to use, display, reproduce, publish, transmit and distribute your photograph on the zoo’s Web site, in our newsletter and/or in any other promotional materials produced by the zoo and the contest sponsors. Photographers retain the right to use the submitted photo. When possible, the Rosamond Gifford Zoo will credit the photographer when his/her photo is used.The Rosamond Gifford Zoo reserves the right to crop and/or re-size photos if necessary.
- By entering the contest, you represent, acknowledge and warrant that the submitted photo is an original work created solely by you, and you are the sole owner of all right, title and interest in and to your photo

- Judging will take place February 5-8, 2008.

Prizes & Awards Ceremony:
The awards ceremony is scheduled for Friday, February 15 at 3:30pm at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. All contestants are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Contestants need not be present to win.
Prizes subject to change. We reserve the right to substitute any of the prizes.
