Red Fox

Red Fox

Though it is called a red fox, this canine can be red, black and a number of shades in between. Both an opportunistic scavenger and a skilled hunter of small animals, the red fox has adapted the technique of sometimes catching its prey and burying it in snow or dirt for consumption at a later time.

World Penguin Day
Wednesday, April 25

In observance of World Penguin Day, we will hold a special Penguin Keeper Chat at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25. Our penguin costumed character will be on hand from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Enter a raffle for a gift basket to benefit animal care at the zoo and conservation in the wild. We also encourage you to take a selfie at our penguin photo booth and post it with hashtag #WorldPenguinDay!

Party for the Planet
Saturday, April 28

Come to our annual Earth Day celebration and learn about the zoo's efforts to sustain biodiversity and promote conservation. We'll have activities and demonstrations to show how you and your family can make a difference, too. Chat with zoo staff at keeper talks featuring some of the zoo's endangered species and visit "green" activity stations throughout the zoo. Presented in partnership with GreeningUSA and Seafood Watch.

See the special Party for the Planet schedule here.

Please note:
Ample parking is available free of charge at the zoo. If zoo parking lots are full, street parking is available throughout the Tipperary Hill neighborhood and in Burnet Park. Please observe all parking signs and abide by odd/even parking regulations. You will still need to enter the zoo through the main entrance.
