Fridge Fullness

Fridge Fullness

Let’s discuss an easy way to help conserve energy in your refrigerator.  It might seem like the opposite would be true, but making sure your fridge is full (but not too full) is a great way to cut down on the amount of energy the appliance uses!

When the fridge is mostly empty, the unit has to work harder to cool the internal air; however, when you have items taking up that space, the compressors do not need to work as hard to cool all that air.  Also, make sure to allow food to cool before covering it and placing it in the fridge. This way the air in the fridge does not warm up, which would cause the compressor to work harder to cool it down again.

While these tips will not make you rich, they will save you money and you will be doing a little something to conserve energy and help the environment around you!
