Asian Elephant Extravaganza

This annual event celebrates the Rosamond Gifford Zoo’s Asian elephant herd and the cultural traditions of their native countries in South Asia. Friends of the Zoo and the zoo’s elephant team plan a daylong slate of activities including performances of traditional Indian music and dance, an Indonesian orchestra called a gamelan, demonstrations with our eight-member elephant herd - including our Asian elephant miracle twins, Yaad and Tukada.

This event is free for members and with paid zoo admission.

Yoga with the Elephants:

Join us weekends in August for peaceful morning yoga with a backdrop of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo’s Helga Beck Asian Elephant Preserve to benefit EEHV research.

Yoga with the Elephants takes place some Saturdays and Sundays, August 1-30 from 8:30-10 a.m.

Asian Elephant Month Silent Auction

August is Asian Elephant Awareness Month! This month is dedicated to raising awareness to the threats Asian Elephants face as well as celebrating this Endangered species.

Every member of our elephant herd contributed to these paintings and they are a part of the elephants training and enrichment activities at the zoo. Enrichment and training are very important aspects of animal care at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo to keep our animals physically and mentally stimulated and healthy!

Our Asian Elephant Awareness Month Auction is put on by the Rosamond Gifford Zoo's chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers. This is a professional group meant to advance excellence in the Zoo Keeping profession, make advancements in animal care and welfare as well as promote conservation of animal species throughout the world.

All proceeds from this auction will go directly towards saving elephants in the wild! This auction will go live on Monday, August 24 at 9 a.m., and will conclude on Monday, August 31 at 9 p.m. CHECK OUT THE AUCTION NOW!
